Because of the awesome advances in veterinarian medicine, pets that are taken care of properly are living longer lives. If you have a pet that is older than seven or eight years of age, then you are going to need to need to start thinking about senior petcare. Older animals need a little different care. Not a whole of difference, but there are some things that will need to be monitored more often. A lot of animals develop cancer in their older years or they may develop problems with their kidneys and liver. There are lab tests that every older pet needs to have routinely in their senior petcare. Every six months is the best schedule to stay on for these kinds of tests. Making sure your pet remains healthy in old age is important in ensuring their comfort. The tests that you need to have performed on a routine basis are a CBC blood cell count, a urinalysis test, a blood chemistry panel, and testing for parasites. These are important in monitoring cells that may be growing into cancer, to make sure the function values for the major organs are in the right range, and to keep check to see if there are any crystals or pus in the urine. Parasites can kill your older pet quick. Fecals are tests done to see if there are larvae of tape worms, hookworms, and roundworms in your pet's intestines. These kinds of parasites will devour the nutrition your pet needs to survive and can prove to be deadly if left to do what they do, especially in older animals. Taking care of your older pet with special senior petcare is important in you being able to give back to that pet the loyalty and love he has given to you his hole life. Making sure that your older pet never has to suffer needlessly is your responsibility and should be one that isn't taken lightly.
